K5 Teacher,
Mrs. Mackey

My name is Shirley Mackey, and I’m excited to be a part of the CCS team this year!  This is my 13th year in education. I graduated Cum Laude from Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS with a degree in elementary education.

I have been a teacher of both elementary and secondary students in both private and public schools. In addition, I’ve taught journalism and history, served as a school counselor and librarian. Since moving to Virginia in 2005, I’ve been in the Alexandria City Public Schools first as a library assistant, and in recent years, serving as a paraprofessional in kindergarten classes.

I’m thrilled to return to Christian education and it’s an honor to help raise your children in the spirit of our awesome and loving God. I find great encouragement in His Word.  Psalm 121:8 says, “The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”  What a mighty God we serve!

I’ve been married for 36 years to husband, Rob, who is a Development Associate for United Way of the National Capital Area.

Daughter, Lacey, a returned Peace Corps volunteer from Togo, West Africa, now works as a Communications Specialist for the General Services Administration. Son, Ryan and wife Allison, live in McPherson, Kansas.  He is the Professor of Music at Central Christian College, while she is Assistant Registrar for McPherson College.

We are a part of the fellowship of Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church, which is just a mile from the school in Kingstowne. Rob serves as a Ruling Elder and member of the choir, I serve as a member of the Hospitality Team, and Lacey is very involved with our youth groups.

We love the Lord and we praise Him for such a place as Christian Center School.
